About FFDSHOW?

ffdshow is DirectShow and VFW codec for decoding/encoding many video and audio formats, including DivX and XviD movies using libavcodec, xvid as well as other opensourced libraries having a rich pair of postprocessing filters.

FFDSHOW can be configured to produce subtitles, to allow or disable various built-in codecs, to seize screenshots, make it possible for keyboard control, also to enhance movies with an increase of resolution, sharpness, and many other post-processing filters. It's got the chance to manipulate audio with effects like an equalizer, a Dolby decoder, reverb, Winamp DSP plugins, and more. Many of the post-processing is borrowed in the MPlayer project and AviSynth filters.

FFDSHOW uses the libavcodec library and some other free, open source software packages to decode video generally in most common formats, for example:

MPEG-4 Part 2 (including video encoded with Xvid, 3ivx, and all versions of DivX).

Flash Video, H.263 and VP6 (as used by sites like YouTube).

H.264/AVC, WMV and also numerous others.

FFDSHOW also decodes audio, like:

MP3, AAC, Dolby AC3, WMA, FLAC, andVorbis formats, amongst others.
